                            Family Services

Family involvement, when not contraindicated, is one of the key treatment elements of the DSYTC clinical approach. In addition to the noted A-CRA caregiver sessions, DSYTC family servicesinclude regular communication and support (e.g., telephone, email), group education sessions and family counselling. These services are available to parents or caregivers of youth within the residential program, or who require/qualify for residential admission as well as those in aftercare.

An 8-week parent education program, based on the modified Family Support Network (FSN), is offered several times per year. The objectives of this program are to engage the family in addressing parenting skill or family dynamic challenges in the following areas: authority, roles, boundaries, communication and routines.
